7 Useful Tips for Beginners to Anthem
Learn how to perform combos, which javelin to choose, and at what level of difficulty to complete the missions.
What is Anthem
Anthem is a third-person online action game for PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4. In it, players take on the roles of freelancers – members of a group that protects the population of the Earth from terrible monsters and evil militarists.
In squads of four people, users perform story missions, go on raids (here they are called “fortresses”) and simply travel through the huge world of the game in their high-tech costumes – javelins.
How to play Anthem
1. Use combos
There are three kinds of abilities in Anthem: catalysts, detonators, and regular abilities. Catalysts are spontaneous skills that impose different effects on opponents (freeze, set fire, and so on). Detonators are skills that activate combos. And normal abilities just cause a certain type of damage.

To perform a combo, you need to impose some effect on the enemy with the help of a catalyst (a gray element icon will appear above it), and then hit him with a detonator. This will cause huge damage to the enemy.
Depending on the type of javelin, performing combos gives different additional effects. The Ranger deals massive damage to one target, the Colossus to all targets within a large radius, the Storm causes elemental damage over the area, and the Interceptor receives an aura of the corresponding element.

2. Don’t stand still
Javelins are not just made very maneuverable – if you stay in place during the battle, the enemies will quickly crush the number. Constantly move, especially if you play alone.
3. Complete missions at a high level of difficulty
Especially concerns the passage of the game in the company of friends. For a well-coordinated squad, tasks of low and medium complexity will seem too easy. More time-consuming missions will make you quickly master the work of your javelin and choose effective tactics. And the rewards for them will be better.

4. Choose your first javelin wisely
The first exosuit should be chosen based on which style of play you like more. A colossus is a typical tank. He is slow, and his mobility options are severely limited. The Ranger is a versatile javelin with high damage on one target and medium maneuverability.
The storm is focused on attacking from a distance, so it has almost no armor. His specialization is spontaneous effects. The interceptor attacks up close. He quickly reduces the distance to the enemy, makes several strikes and moves away to a safe distance.

5. Avoid overheating
From a long flight, javelins overheat. It is better not to allow this: it takes a long time to restore the jetpack, and during this time enemies can attack. To cool the engines, dive sharply during the flight or dive into the water.
6. Don’t Play Alone
If possible, either call your friends or use matchmaking. Anthem is not designed for one person – such missions become very long, and sometimes even too difficult.

7. Collect all the resources you meet
Sooner or later, you will want to choose weapons or gadgets better than those that are passed off as missions. This requires resources. In order not to look for them on the game map, it is better to start a habit of picking up all the plants, metals, and so on in the early stages.
